What is an Advanced Healthcare Directive or Durable Power of Attorney for Healthcare?
This is a legal document your loved one may have completed during their lifetime to choose someone they trust to make healthcare decisions for them if they were unable to do so themselves. This document also gives that person the authority to make decisions about funeral, burial, or cremation arrangements after death.
Please note that a traditional power of attorney, wills, or trust documents are not sufficient to give someone the right to make decisions about burial or cremation. You can learn more about the how decision-making authority is determined here.
If you have an Advanced Healthcare Directive or Durable Power of Attorney for Healthcare, Meadow will need to validate the documents to ensure they meet legal standards, and therefore your authority to make arrangements.
